Artist's Description
Painted in July 2020 this artwork shows two young men walking along a tarmac path in wooded land. It is located within Southampton common, a large open area within the centre of the city of Southampton, Hampshire, on the southern coast of the UK. The common has its routes from the 13th century and is 365 acres in size. It comprises of grass land, wooded areas, a lake and other public amenities. An area of 223-acres is a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest. Its neighbour is the old and large Victorian 'Old' cemetery, another interesting location for subjects to paint.
This oil painting of the September scene is created on primed mounting board, which was sized at 20” x 16”. It was coloured glazed to add depth to the colour.
