Artist's Description
This painting was done in the late summer of 2014, and features a horse standing in a wooded area of the new Forest, Hampshire, UK. Earlier in the spring of the same year I painted a similar painting of another horse in the New Forest, again in portrait format. This new one uses photographic reference taken on the same trip as the earlier one and again the horse was added in to this scene. It is a resident of the New Forest however and was photographed nearby. I liked the setting of the quite densely packed trees with a pool of light on the ground, and thought that the horse would fit well here.
The painting is done in oils on a 20" x 16" canvas board.
