Artist's Description
This small oil painting was painted in the Autumn of 2013. It shows a view of the Dorset (UK) countryside during a hot, summers day. Golden fields of corn can be seen stretching out in to the distance, working well against the sunny blue sky.
The painting measures 12 x 10 and the oil paint was applied on to a red acrylic base, with the basic elements of the landscape sketched out in brown acrylic paint. It was painted in an afternoon, based on a photograph taken at the time.

this is so lovely ... I think I can hear the sound of the crickets chirping, feel the warming breezes. I have to tell you, this puts me in mind of my personal all-time favorite painting ... Willard Leroy Metcalf's Midsummer Twilight ... I've gotten completely lost in that one more than once. hope you know I mean this as the highest of compliments!!! l/f of course
