This painting shows a scene at Hilliers Gardens, Hampshire, during a sunny winters day. The location is probably the highlight of the gardens which features a beautiful lake that looks good whatever time of year one visits. The lake has already been the subject of two painting by myself. The figure in the lake is not someone brave enough to sample the cold delights of the water. It is in fact a life size metal statue, and one of the many permanently installed pieces of art to be found around the gardens.
The painting was completed during November 2016. It is done in oils on paper sized at 20" x 16".
