This painting features a view of a pine forest within the New Forest, Hampshire on the southern coast of the UK. It is summer and strong shadows are cast, and keep the ground in shade for the forest of ferns to enjoy the cooler conditions, with just a few picked out by spots of sunlight. In the distance it can be seen that the view is on the edge of a clearing.
Completed during June 2017, the countryside painting is done with acrylics on white mounting board with a yellow ochre base colour. The image is sized at 16” x 20”.

Beautiful play with light and shadows, dear Martin. But I can't help it... I stare at it and keep waiting for some strange creature or robot to appear. ;-) L & F

Martin Davey replied:
Thank you very much Meg. It was quite difficult to make the light work with the acrylic paint!
