This small painting was created during September 2017, and features a simple composition of a brown horse eating grass. It is based on a photograph of a horse standing on moor ground within the New Forest, Hampshire, along the south coast of the UK. It is painted in oils on mounting board, sized at 12” x 16”. For an experiment, I decided not to paint the finished art right up to the edge of the board, but instead deliberately leave some of the underpainting and basic orange coloured ground showing around the edge of the painting.
