This painting shows a large tree in Southampton east park, situated within the centre of the city. Behind, where the line of buildings are is Cumberland Place. These are mainly flats and shops with the tall building on the left built as student flats. The 'Jurys Inn Hotel' is seen through he trees on the right hand side. One woman is seen walking through the park on a path, possibly on the way to the nearby university, passing fallen leaves on the green grass; a signal for start of the autumn season.. This Victorian park has two memorials nearby remembering the titanic disaster of 1912.
The painting was created during spring 2020 and is painted in oils on mounting board, sized at 20” x 16”.
