This painting was completed during late May 2018. The subject is a brown Fresian cow resting and dropping asleep on a sunny day. The subject is based on a photograph taken at Lyndhurst, a town within the New Forest, Hampshire. In this area cows and horses are allowed to roam freely around the whole national park, known as the New Forest, and this includes the towns and villages.
The painting measures 20” x 16” and is painted in oils on watercolour paper, which has been stretched on board.
