Painting - Oil On Mounting Board
Description
This painting is based on a scene photographed at Mayflower Park, Southampton, on the southern coast of the UK during 2012. The ship is named Independence of the Seas, and is a Freedom-class cruise ship operated by the Royal Caribbean cruise line. She was built in 2008. The ice cream van is a popular and famous landmark at the park. Many people come to the park to observe cruise ships at the docks. It is built from reclaimed land from the deposits involved in the building of the western docks at the city, now generally a container port. It was initially named Royal Pier Recreation Ground until the 1950s when it was landscaped over the years to the current park. The International boat show is held here each year.
This painting is done in oils on mounting board, sized at 20” x 16”, and was painted in late winter/ early spring 2020.
