The famous London landmark of Piccadilly Circus is the feature of this painting, completed during April 2019. Crowds of people visit the location each year, mostly tourists or people on their way to work in the surrounding area. One other type of typical visitors are the famous pigeons that frequent this and other tourist destinations. Two red buses finish the scene off as to be expected in a painting set in the London.
The name Piccadilly first appeared in the 1625 with a thoroughfare named after a shop that sold Piccaills, a type of collar. As a junction, Piccadilly Circus first appeared in 1819, the word circus indicating a circular route which changed when Shaftesbury Avenue was added to the current streets then in existence. Now the area is a junction for Regent Street, Shaftesbury Avenue, The Haymarket, Coventry Street and Glasshouse Street
