Painting - Oil On Mounting Board
Description
The subject of this painting is of a lady from Ringwood, Hampshire in the UK. It is painted in oils on mounting board sized at 33” x 23”. Her name is Julie Diaz, is mixed race, and has an interest in many aspects of spirituality, drumming and the Gothic and mysterious elements of life. Primarily she wears gold, black and red, the red (hair) symbolising a love for life.
The picture was based on a number of photographs, shot in a car park on a sunny day. A digital concept drawing was done of a hazy watery beach, for the background, and combined as a reference point towards the final painting. The water theme was added to provide a link to her Aquarius star sign. A glaze was added on top of as the final painting layer, just on the figure only (to emphasise and add depth to the colours, the sea background remaining as was painted.
