Medium
Painting - Oil On Mounting Board
Description
This scene was painted in April 2018, and features activity on a summers day at Eling Wharf. The area is situated close to Totton in Hampshire and the river Test. Originally the Quay was for industrial (timber) use with various business using the available water and later, rail links, though now it has become more of a place for people to live and enjoy the local scenery and nature reserve. One of the main draws in the area is the Eling mill, one of the oldest working Tide Mills in the country, and is the prominent picture in the painting. To the left (and off ) the painting is the medieval toll bridge, still charging use to road vehicles. The centre-point of the painting is the family enjoying fishing, with the boy holding a net containing a small crab.
Oil paint was used to create the painting which is applied on a mounting board support, sized at 20” x 28”.
