This painting of a large, brown horse was done in September 2014, based on a photograph taken a few years before. The horse was found in a shady field on the outskirts of Bursledon, in Hampshire. I do not know the breed of the horse but its height and sheer size was very impressive, though quite intimidating however. I do not believe I have been so near such a large horse before and I believe it was well aware of its power! The painting is done in oils on an acrylic roughly painted base. A 12� x 10� canvas board was used as a support.
